Introducing Jay Younger: Rebuilding Stronger and Better Than Ever
We’re excited to welcome Jay Younger to the Causer Strength team! With a diverse and impressive athletic background, Jay brings a wealth of experience and potential to our community. A former 400-meter runner for Team GB, Jay also boasts a strong pedigree in CrossFit, where he’s excelled in both strength and endurance disciplines.
Jay has joined Causer Strength to refine his Olympic weightlifting skills and elevate his overall performance. Recognising the importance of improving his technical ability and mobility, he’s committed to building a solid foundation for longevity in sport. These key focus areas will not only enhance his efficiency in the snatch and clean and jerk but also contribute to long-term athletic success.
Currently, Jay is in the process of recovering from a relatively recent pectoral tear, making this a pivotal time in his training. It’s a unique opportunity to reset, rebuild, and come back stronger and more robust than ever. By focusing on the fundamentals and developing his mobility, we’re working with Jay to optimise his movement patterns and future-proof his body for the demands of high-level competition.
A Week in Jay’s Training
Jay’s weekly training plan is designed to achieve a balance between technical skill development, mobility, fitness, and overall conditioning. Here’s what a typical week looks like for him:
- Two Snatch Technical Base Sessions: Focused on refining technique, improving efficiency, and enhancing overall movement patterns.
- Two Clean and Jerk Technical Base Sessions: With additional mobility work aimed at securing a strong lockout overhead.
- Daily Mobility Work: Integrated throughout the week to ensure consistent progress in range of motion and recovery.
- One Base Fitness Session: Maintaining a baseline level of fitness by incorporating CrossFit skills and building endurance.
- Two Running Sessions: Keeping his track and field roots alive, these sessions help balance his conditioning and athletic development.
This carefully crafted schedule ensures Jay has the opportunity to improve across all key areas, from Olympic lifting to overall fitness, while maintaining a sustainable training load.
Jay’s dedication and work ethic are already shining through in his training. With ambitious goals, including a 100kg+ snatch and a 150kg+ clean and jerk, he’s on a path to achieve incredible results. Beyond his personal progress, Jay’s supportive and inspiring nature makes him a valued member of the Causer Strength team, uplifting those around him with his passion and drive.
We’re proud to be part of Jay’s journey and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. Stay tuned—this is just the beginning of an exciting chapter for Jay and Causer Strength!
